課程概述

Organizations select, introduce, and implement important changes to their business in a structured way so that the right changes are introduced in an orderly way. To implement these changes successfully, organizations have adopted the so-called “program management” (e.g., multiple interdependence projects with an overall goal) approach. This class provides a detailed understanding of program management including the program goal formulation, program planning, program governance, and program implementation control and how to promote efficient and effective communication and coordination among various groups/projects within the programs. Furthermore, it will discuss the variety of factors linking projects under the program and how to provide the best available resources between those projects by aligning the projects with program goals.

課程目標
1.The identification and delivery of benefits that were anticipated when the program was authorized;
2.The understanding of the challenges of complex project management and the corresponding project management intervention tools, and
3.The understanding of the differences among project, portfolio, and program management.
4.Understanding of the benefit realization management and its challenges in organizations.

Examinations
There will be two exams during the semester. Exams are not cumulative. Exams may include short answer questions, and problems based on the concepts presented in the text, lectures, and case discussions. Exams will be returned for review and then collected immediately after the review. Missed exams will be given a grade of ZERO. Exceptions require ADVANCE notification, documentation and the approval of the professor. A student missing the final exam will be given a failing grade for the course. Before each exam, a study guide/discussion will be given during the previous class of the exam.

Attendance
Attendance is defined as physical AND mental attendance. Students who disconnect mentally by engaging in other unrelated activities or leave lecture sessions early may lose their attendance extra credit for that day. According to your attendance the following extra credit will be added to YOUR final exam: PERFECT attendance, no days missed = 10 points; ONE (and only one) absence = 7 points; TWO (and only two) = 5 points; those that just sign the attendance log and then leave class shall be marked absent. Do NOT forget to sign the attendance log. Once your unsigned field receives the “blank mark” you are officially counted absent for that day! Since attendance is extra credit, I do NOT accept ANY excuses! Documented evidence for exceptional cases such as illness will be considered.

Case Studies - Individual
Four individual case write-ups are to be completed during the semester for fifteen (15) points each for a total 60 points. The written reviews are to be 1 – 2 pages type-written, double spaced, one-inch margins using a question/answer format citing of any outside references (if needed). Cases will be graded based on depth of analysis, content and format.
